History of Team Building

Adair (1986) states that team building was inspired by the remarkable pioneering efforts in America during the early 1900's before breaking into British companies.

Adair (1986) saw the emergence of team building exercise strategies develop within Britain only in the last half of 1900's, this is in concurrence with a study conducted in 1928, named The Hawthorne Study (1928 cited Dyer, 1987).

The study was the first in the field of team building and shows that America was years in front of the United Kingdom with the concept of developing teams through team exercises which could lead to increased quality and productivity.
