About Warwickshire
Located in the West Midlands, steeped in history, the county is famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Stratford-upon-Avon is a beautiful ancient town situated on the banks of the River Avon and is home to one of the most photographed cottages in the country, Anne Hathaway’s, where she lived before marrying Shakespeare. Warwick Castle is another popular tourist attraction which miraculously escaped destruction during the English Civil War. Royal Leamington Spa is another great location made famous due to the natural springs that were discovered and commercialised in the nineteenth century. The Royal Pump Rooms now houses the Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum.
