Detailed Analysis
Group 1
(12 Participants)
Crystal Challenge
Group 1 thought that the team building interventions were a vital part in team development within new groups and would most definitely use them again.
This is evident when stating:
"I have used team building events as a means of developing teams for two years, they have served a valuable purpose and the rewards are reflected with the outcomes of each of the projects.
Over time I have worked closely with event consultants at Progressive Resources and we have formulated a near perfect event which we can repeat for every team that is formed to complete time conscious projects.
This relationship will continue to develop and I will certainly use the events again."

Everest Challenge
Group 2 reported that she would use team building in the future but would change some aspects including;
- Feedback and reinforcement.
- Timings.
- Find a way to take something physical from the event and back into the office which could act as a memory or momentum to the day, something the team has worked for or worked to create.
The interviewee went on to explain:
"There is great potential within this form of training and with more meetings and the lessons learnt from the previous event I believe more events could benefit the team."
Group 3

Corporate Sailing Day
Group 3 experienced a 12% rise in productivity in the six weeks following the event.
He has taken the concept to the monthly meeting where he has shown the evidence to other managers who have similar teams.
Senior directors have heard about the returns of the events and are currently looking into providing all of this particular major automobile company's departments with team building events.
"Senior directors arranged a meeting with me to discuss what happened on the event and to see if it was this alone that lead to the increased productivity.
We discussed possible environmental factors and concluded that team building had a majority role in the increase.
They were shocked and pleased and are looking into booking every department onto similar events and, if successful, making into an annual event."
Group 4

It's a Knockout
Group 4 would consider doing team building again however only if there was a similar cause.
This is evident in the statement:
"I think the team building was useful in the situation but hopefully another situation like this would not occur and we would not have a need for team building."
This is in reference to the hostile atmosphere that was apparent in the company before and leading upto the event.

Facilitated Belbin Event
Group 5 experienced the Belbin facilitated team building event within their offices.
The event was a success in terms of most of its goals, but the style in which the event was presented was said to be slightly autocratic and dictatorial and did not agree with some of the workforce.
This is reflected when stating:
"The team building event has opened our eyes to many new and radical concepts, however in the long run, the unexpected disagreements that it caused with some of the group nullified the effect somewhat."
