They don't look as though they should work, but these clever two wheeled electric vehicles use in-built balance to support the rider and make sure that they don't fall off. You simpy step on the two foot plates and lean forward to go forward and backwards to go backwards. Lean from side to side and the Segway turns.
To start with it feels strange and our instructor will be close at hand to make sure you feel safe. In a short while it begins to feel intuitive and then it's just fun all the way.
We have the larger 'off road' version which can be operated in a flat area of field. We usually run Segways as one of a selection of activities run in a 'round robin' format. Teams try one activity and then move on to the next completing each in turn. You might have a selection including, for example, Segways, Laser Clay Shooting, Archery and Quad Bikes.
