Pedal For Purpose combines team-building competition with a genuine charitable outcome. Teams complete bicycle-themed challenges, earn the components they need and then build bikes that are ultimately donated to local charities.
Yes, although professional bike technicians guide the teams to make sure the finished bikes are assembled safely and correctly. Once the teams have earned their components through the earlier challenges, they work together to assemble their bikes before showing off the finished products.
The event includes a mixture of bicycle-based challenges designed to earn points for the teams. Examples include a three-wheel bike challenge and a bike-equipment fashion show, combining practical teamwork with creativity and plenty of opportunity for some friendly competition.
The completed bikes are put through a final relay race, with teams competing head-to-head while their colleagues cheer them on. The event then finishes with a presentation where the bikes are handed over to representatives of local charities.
Yes. The finished bicycles are intended to be donated to local charities, giving the activity a tangible outcome beyond the team-building session itself. The final presentation provides an opportunity to see the purpose behind the work the teams have completed.
It can be either. The event is designed to work indoors or outdoors, which means it can be run throughout the year and incorporated into a wider corporate programme without relying entirely on good weather.
There is an active element, particularly in the bicycle-based challenges and final relay, but the event is not simply a cycling test. Teams also need to communicate, solve problems, earn components and build their bikes, so different abilities can contribute throughout the day.
Teams have to work together through several stages before they can reach the final bike build. They need to earn points, coordinate the construction process and then put their finished bike to the test in the relay, giving the day a clear progression from collaboration to competition.
Yes. Because it can be delivered indoors or outdoors and includes several distinct stages, it can form the main activity within a corporate away day or sit alongside meetings and other activities. The event can be planned around your venue and the time available.
Pedal For Purpose is suitable for groups of approximately 8 to 200 people. Larger groups can be divided into teams so that everyone has a role during the challenges, bike build and final celebration.
