Boombastic

Boombastic transforms a meeting or conference audience into a colourful percussion orchestra. Every participant receives a Boomwhacker and follows a Rhythm Master to create a coordinated piece of music using simple beats and interlocking notes.

A Boomwhacker is a lightweight, hollow plastic tube that creates a musical note when struck by hand or against another tube. Different lengths and colours produce different notes, making the instruments easy to organise within a large group.

No. The beats are introduced gradually, and the colour coding helps participants understand when their section should play. Listening and reacting to the facilitator are more important than previous musical training.

The false lecture is part of the surprise. Delegates believe they are about to hear an exceptionally dry presentation before the "lecturer" reveals their true identity as the Rhythm Master and launches the musical activity.

Participants are divided according to the colour of their Boomwhacker. Each colour group learns a simple rhythm or note pattern, and those separate sections are layered together until the entire room is playing as one orchestra.
